Diglipur, Sept 22: The Counting of Panchayat Elections for 15 Pradhan, 15 Samiti Members and 7 Zilla Parishad members and 137 ward members concluded on peaceful note at Diglipur.
There was no report of any untoward incident from Diglipur region. The voting was held through ballot papers. The counting of votes started at 8 am at GSSS Diglipur amidst tight security. 169 polling staffs apart from Revenue officials participated in the counting. Police Department maintained Law and order very professionally.
Apart from staff of PS Diglipur, IRBn, SAP, Traffic, CID, Home Gaurds were placed in duty by Police Department.
For the First time in the history of A & N Islands the Election results were telecast live through cable TV in Diglipur region.
Estimated 25,000 people watched this event from their homes.
Because of live coverage there was no extra crowd at the counting area.
Mikes were installed all over bazaar area. Results and leadings were announced throughout the counting.
