Billyground, Middle Andaman, Sept 20: The residents of Prafulla Nagar village under Basantipur panchayat of Middle Andaman today boycotted the Panchayat Elections protesting against zero development in their village and lack of proper infrastructure.
According to reports at Prafull Nagar No. 1 polling Station no one came forward to cast their vote.
It was already decided by the villages of the Prafulla Nagar to boycott the election long back, as a mark of protest against poor infrastructure in the area.
Villagers alleged that neither administration nor the Panchayat paid any attention for the development of the village and hence they took this extreme decision.
The condition of Prafulla Nagar village is so pathetic that even the polling officers had a horrible time to reaching Prafulla Nagar.
Sources also said that no one from the village even filed nomination for the election of Panchayat Samiti member.
Earlier during MP elections, villagers of McCarthy Valley, Near Uttara Jetty, Kadamtala and Chingam Village of Great Nicobar had boycotted the elections for similar reasons.
