Port Blair, Sept 18: Elaborate traffic arrangements have been made in connection with the General Election to Gram Panchayats for the distribution, collection of polling materials and counting of votes. Accordingly, vehicular traffic from Dolphin Chowk to Police Station, Diglipur will be closed on Sept 19 from 7 am to 3 pm for distribution of polling materials, on Sept 20 from 4 pm till completion of collection of polling materials, on Sept 22 from 6 am till the completion of counting process.
The vehicular traffic from Dolphin Chowk to Police Station, Diglipur and vice versa will be diverted from Dolphin Chowk to Police Station via Fish Market. The vehicle of personnel involved in the Election process / duty only will be allowed inside this zone.
The pedestrian traffic in the zone will be closed on 22-09-2015 from 0600 hrs to till completion of counting process. General public will not be allowed in the Govt. Sr. Secondary School, (Counting Centre) as well as in the Vivekananda Stadium during the counting on 22-09-2015.
The Counting Supervisors / Assistants shall park their vehicles on both side of the road in front of Vivekananda Stadium and Boys Hostel, said the Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Diglipur, in a release.
