Port Blair, Sept 18: Deployment of Polling Personnel for different Polling Stations through the process of randomization has been completed and kept in sealed covers with respective Returning Officers and shall be opened at time of the distribution of the Polling material. For PBMC area, the randomisation was carried out in the conference hall of the Office of Deputy Commissioner, South Andaman and for Panchayat Areas in respective Tehsils.
All Presiding Officers along with their Polling Personnel have been directed to reach at their respective Distribution Centers on time for receiving of Polling Materials. All Polling Parities has also been instructed to stay at their Polling Stations during previous night of the poll.
Election Campaigning for forthcoming Panchayats & Municipal Elections has come to an end on Friday as the Poll is scheduled to be held on Sept 20. If any contesting candidate indulges in any kind of activity related to campaign, he/she shall be prosecuted under the relevant rule and if convicted, his/her candidature shall be cancelled.
The training on counting and declaration of results has been imparted for both PBMC & Panchayat area on Friday at Tagore Govt. College Auditorium and DRBRAIT Auditorium respectively. The second round of training for the same shall be conducted on Sept 21. All concerned have been directed to attend the training without fail.
To prevent any illicit attempt to allure the voters before commencement of the poll, the teams have been formed for different areas under the Senior Officials of the District Administration for the patrolling during night hours & early morning. All Sector Magistrates along with respective Police Sector Officers have also been directed to constantly patrol in their area and to be vigilant to prevent any violation of Model Code of Conduct. All candidates are once again appealed to strictly adhere to Modal Code of Conduct. All Bars, ANIIDCO outlets, Defense & Police Canteens are directed to strictly observe the dry days already declared from 18th to 20th September 2015 and 22nd September 2015. If any violations are found, their license shall be cancelled.
Alternative documents apart from Electoral Photo Identity Cards (EPIC) may be used for established the identity of those voters who have not been provided with (EPIC card) viz. Indian Passport, Motor Vehicle Driving License, Pan Card issued by Income Tax Department, Serving Identity Card issued to their employees by the Central Government, Public Sector Undertaking, Local bodies or Public Limited Companies, Service Identity Card issued to its employee by the Andaman & Nicobar Administration, Bank/Kisan/Post Office Passbook having photo affixed on it, Valid Student Identity Card issued by Recognized educational Institutions, SC/ST/OBC Certificates issued by the competent authority, Pension documents, such as, ex-servicemen’s Pension Book/Pension Payment Order, ex-servicemen’s Widow/Dependent Certificates, Old Age Pension Order, Widow Pension Order, Freedom Fighter Identity Card, Arms License, Certificate of Physically Handicapped issued by the competent authority, Aadhar Card or Islander Identity Card.
The alternative documents for identification will also apply in respect of such odd electors, who have been supplied with EPICs but are not enable to produce them for reasons beyond their control.
Further, an SMS based facility has been developed to facilitate the voters to know their name, polling station details and voters serial number etc. by typing the 10 Character EPIC NO. Without space e.g. “PRI1222868” and sending SMS to 9434289934.
The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Model Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. Total 2645 (Two Thousand Six Hundred Forty Five) & 377 (Three Hundred Seventy Seven) number of defacements have been removed from Public & Private property in South Andaman District & North Andaman District respectively. The general public and others are appealed to report any case of violation of Modal Code of Conduct to Election Cell on 03192-238881 and 03192-240127, said the Additional District Magistrate, South Andaman, in a release.
