Port Blair, Sept 11: The Returning Officers of all the constituencies have started distributing postal ballots to the concerned polling personnel. The Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections appeals to all Government Servants on election duty to collect the postal ballot papers from their respective Returning Officer by 12th September 2015, to cast their votes. Additional postal ballots are also being printed as per the requirement of Returning Officers. The Director also inspected the distribution and counting centre at JNRM college to ensure the proper arrangements for the same.
The training on counting and declaration of results has been imparted on 11th September 2015 at conference hall of the Deputy Commissioner (SA) office for the master trainers of Campbell Bay.
The ballot papers for North & Middle Andaman, Neil & Havelock have been transported with adequate security arrangements.
A few complaints have been received against Government Servants of participation in political activities. These are being enquired and if found correct, stringent action shall be taken against them. The confidential cell constituted for the purpose has been directed to keep close watch on such activities and collect proper evidences so that appropriate action can be taken against the violators. All the Government Servants are once again cautioned to restrain from such activities.
The special night patrolling is being started regularly till elections by various senior officers of the District Administration along with police teams and the teams constituted for enforcement of Model Code of Conduct to check the violations.
The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Model Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. Total 1957 (One Thousand Nine hundred Fifty Seven) & 208 (Two Hundred Eight) number of defacements have been removed from Public & Private property in South Andaman District & North Andaman District respectively. The general public and others are appealed to report any case of violation of Modal Code of Conduct to Election Cell on 03192-238881 and 03192-240127.
