Port Blair, Sept 8: As part of its endeavour to generate awareness on various social issues, the Incharge, Crime Against Women Cell, Inspector Abita Bachhan along with Smt Meenam Bal, Vidhya Yuva Kendra Foundation, held an interaction programme with teachers and senior students of Govt. Model. Sr. Sec. School here recently. Issues relating to domestic violence, molestation/eve-teasing, suicide attempts and cyber offences were discussed during the programme. Do’s and Don’ts with respect to such offences were explained to girl child students.
Teachers were advised to display contents of various Advisories on the School notice board and to keep in regular touch with students to prevent any offence. Students were also advised to be more careful and report obscene telephone calls or obscene messages through social networking sites/applications. Students were encouraged to come forward and provide information about any kind of offences noticed among the school students etc. Students were also sensitized on gender issues and were assured in police department’s endeavour in ensuring safety & security. They were also requested to pass/report on any information about offences related to girl child on the following telephone numbers- 100, 232586, 9434288536, 9434289985 & 9531856293.
