Port Blair, Sept 06: A meeting was held by the CID Unit with the fisherman community of Junglighat area at Junglighat jetty on Sept. 2. This meeting was called as an interaction with the fishermen of the area on coastal security. They were briefed to follow the safety measures while venturing into the sea. They were also sensitised to inform police about sighting of any suspicious foreign vessel/foreign nationals in the territorial water of these Islands.
Apart from that, they were requested to inform Police about sighting of fishermen/people in distress for ensuring prompt rescue. They were also requested to pass on any information about illegal activities on the following any other illegal activity on the telephone numbers – 100, 232586, 9434288536 & 9434289985. The informer will be rewarded suitably and his/her identity will be kept secret.
