Port Blair, Sept 03: According utmost priority to the security arrangements on the day of voting, the Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections chalked out a detailed programme of deployment of Police Personnel with Nodal Officer of Police Department on 03.09 15. It has been decided that at least one armed guard and one lady constable at each polling station shall be deployed and two (02) lady constables at polling buildings having more than five polling stations. The police teams deployed at polling buildings having two polling stations will be headed by Head Constable. The polling buildings having three , four and more than four polling stations will be headed by Assistant Sub- Inspectors and Sub-Inspectors respectively. In Municipal area an additional unarmed guard shall be provided at each polling station apart from the above arrangements.
A Police team shall accompany each Sector Officer who will patrol in their respective areas on the day. For this Sector Officers have already been conferred the power of Executive Magistrate. Striking reserve shall also be maintained with SPs, DIG & DGP and additional force shall be deployed in sensitive areas.
The Director, Panchayat & Municipal Elections took stock of the ongoing work of Printing ballot papers at various places and directed all Nodal Officers to ensure safe & timely completion of the same.
It has been decided to use JNRM College apart from Girls Sr. Sec School to ensure smooth and fast distribution of polling material and counting of votes.
The Presiding Officers/Polling Personnel who have not attended the first round of training are directed to attend the same in the second round on 6th September 2015 without fail.
The teams constituted for preventing the violation of Modal Code of Conduct have been keeping constant vigil. The 110(One Hundred Ten) number of defacements have been removed in North & Middle Andaman District & 587 (Five Hundred Eighty Seven) as on 3rd September 2015 in South Andaman District. The general public and others are appealed to report any case of violation of Modal Code of Conduct to Election Cell on 03192-238881 and 03192-240127.
