Port Blair, Aug 31: Passenger Reservation System (PRS) at 408 MC Det near Delanipur is operational under the aegis of A & N Command since March 27, 2015 and is the fourth PRS terminal after Diglipur, Car Nicobar and Secretariat (Port Blair), run by A&N Administration.
The PRS at Delanipur is the only PRS in the entire archipelago which operates 365 days in a year, with extended hours to cater for the requirements of the Islanders. Within a short span of five months, it has served a total of approx 8150 passengers which includes 20% of islanders. One of the reasons of mass utilization of this PRS has been its location which makes it convenient for civilians to access the facility.
The requisite manpower has been pooled in from within own resources of the ANC and trained by Eastern Railways. For the comfort of the customers, amenities such as soft drinks / cold flavoured drink / cold coffee have been made available, apart from facilities such as TV in the PRS, said Col Yogesh Sharma, Command PRO in a release.
