Port Blair, Aug 20: The President, Pradesh Congress Committee, Mr Kuldeep Rai Sharma has demanded postponement of the Municipal and Panchayat elections.
In a letter to the Election Commissioner, Ms Bhupinder Prasad with copy to the Lt Governor, Mr Sharma said that more than 2000 candidates will appear for the CTET exams scheduled to be held on Sept 20, the day of polls.
In case the date of election is not changed, the students appearing for the test from other islands and or far flung places may not be able to cast their votes and will be deprived of their voting rights, he said urging the Lt. Governor to take up the issue with the Election Commissioner.
