Port Blair, Aug 10: An awareness programme on Swachh Bharat Abhiyan was conducted under the leadership of Smt Raj Mahajan in association with Dr Poonam Arora, Mr. BP Yadav, Mr. Barun Mallick, Mr Kaushik Banerjee, Mr. Abhijit Agrawal and Smt Neeta Agrawal on Saturday for the girl students of JNRM Hostel. Mr Vijay Kumar, Nodal Officer (SWM), PBMC and others Senior Sanitary Inspector & Health Education Awareness Group of PBMC extended all support in clearing the water logging and surroundings. They also explained the necessity of segregating the waste. Dr. Poonam Arora donated three dust bins of 350 ltr. capacity to the Girls Hostel and explained how to segregate the waste as solid waste – biodegradable (wet) and Non-biodegradable (dry) and sanitary waste. Dr. Francis Xavier, Principal, JNRM and the Warden of the JNRM Girls’ Hostel supported the initiative.
Meanwhile, the Commander-in-Chief, A & N Command, Vice Admiral Pradeep Kumar Chatterjee, PVSM, AVSM, NM, will sponsor ten dust bins of 50 ltr. capacity for various schools in the city.
