Port Blair, Aug 6: The A & N UT Commission for Protection of Child Rights (UTCPCR) in its endeavour to provide better services to the children of these Islands is duty bound to provide care, protection and welfare of the children specially the student community of these Islands. A large number of students have approached the Commission informing about the problems of submission of online applications to the Ministry for availing the scholarship scheme. Due to remoteness of this UT and all the Islands being scattered, the internet connectivity in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands is very poor, as such the students of the minority community of these Islands are facing problems in uploading the information and submission of online applications for availing scholarship from the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
It is understood that due to non-submission of adequate online applications to the Ministry, the funds earmarked for the students of this UT are also not being utilized. To judiciously utilize the funds, the Chairperson, Smt Sheela Singh has requested that the students of the Minority Community may be exempted from submitting online applications for availing the scholarship under various schemes of the Ministry of Minority Affairs.
