Port Blair, August 03: Here is a good news for residents of Hopetown. Hopetown Jetty of South Andaman will be extended by 100 meters soon, which will be a major development for the people of the area as after extension of the Jetty bigger vessels will be able to berth at the jetty.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, Chief Engineer, Andaman Lakshdweep Harbour Works, Er. Bimal Sinha said that the extension of Hopetown Jetty to 100 meters have got the sanction and soon the department will start the tendering works immediately and actually the work will be commenced after getting environment clearance. He also said that the estimated cost of the project is Rs 17.27 crores.
The CE of ALHW also added that during recent visit of a Minister, people of the area demanded for the extension of the jetty.
“They asked extension of Jetty so that bigger vessels like LPG truck can land at Hopetown Jetty,” he added.
