Port Blair, Aug 03: An outbreak of Canine Distemper has been reported among dogs in Port Blair Municipal area. All the dog owners are advised to keep their pets indoors to avoid contact with known infected dogs.
There is no specific treatment for the disease and prevention is the only method to save the animal from the disease. To control the spread of the present outbreak, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Veterinary Services has made arrangements for free-of-cost vaccination against canine distemper in all the veterinary hospitals and veterinary dispensaries in Port Blair and other areas of South Andaman. All the dog owners are advised to get their dogs vaccinated immediately.
