Port Blair, Apr 18: Lieutenant General NC Marwah, PVSM, AVSM, Commander-in-Chief, Andaman and Nicobar Command (CINCAN) was awarded Param Vishihst Seva Medal (PVSM) for his distinguished service by the Honourable President of India, Smt Pratibha Patil in the presence of Dr. Manmohan Singh during an Investiture Ceremony held at New Delhi on 17 Apr 12. The General Officer took over as the Commander-in-Chief of the Andaman & Nicobar Command (CINCAN) on 01 Jan 11 becoming the 10th Commander-in-Chief of the country’s only Joint Command – the Andaman & Nicobar Command.
Lieutenant GeneralNCMarwah, PVSM, AVSM, an alumni ofNationalDefenceAcademy, was commissioned into the Kumaon Regiment in1973. Agraduate of the Defence Services Staff College and College of Defence Management, the General officer has had varied Command and Staff appointments during his career spanning 38 years including two tenures at Directorate of Military Operations, Army Headquarters.
The Officer had served as Military Observer in UNIMOG (United Nations Iran Iraq Military Observers Group) inIran. He has attended the UN Senior Mission Leaders Course atVienna,Austriaand Pacific Armies Management Seminar atTokyo,Japan. The General Officer has a vast operational experience, stretching over 18 years across the entire spectrum of conflict to include counter-insurgency and active conventional operations.
The General Officer commanded the prestigious 15 Corps based atSrinagarbefore moving as Commander-in-Chief Andaman & Nicobar Command on01 Jan 2011.
