Port Blair, July 24: Nearly ten members of Jarawa Tribal community were taken out of a jeep of Andaman Aadim Janjati Vikas Samity safely after the driver of the Jeep detected smoke coming out of the battery of the Jeep.
According to eye witnesses the incident was reported at around 1.00 PM infront of Air India building and no one sustained any kind of injuries in this incident.
Sources told Andaman Sheekha that nearly 10 members of Jarawa Tribe, including women and infants, who were discharged from G B Pant Hospital were being taken to Middle Strait when this incident was reported.
After detection of smoke all members of Jarawa Tribes were immediately taken out and the matter was reported to Fire Brigade. Considering the prime location the Fire Brigade and Police acted very swiftly and in no time the Jeep was taken away.
For nearly five minutes members of Jarawa Tribes were sitting on the footpath along the road, infront of Air India office, which attracted a lot of crowd. The AAJVS however, acted swiftly and provided replacement vehicles immediately and shifted the members of Jarawa Tribes to Middle Strait.
