Diglipur, June 08: To realize Gandhi Ji’s concept of ‘Adarsh Gram’ which revolves around creating model villages for transforming “Swaraj” in to ‘Su-raj’, Honorable Prime Minister of India on 11 October 2014 launched the programme Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) with a vision of self sustainable development in the villages which includes social development, cultural development and motivating the people to mobilize the village community.
The Honorable Lt. Governor, Andaman & Nicobar Islands has selected Ram Nagar Gram Panchyat in the District of North & Middle Andaman to be developed as ‘Adarsh Gram’ under Saansad Adarsh Gram Yojana (SAGY) in North & Middle Andamans District.
In the Working Group meeting and in the District Level Committee of SAGY for Ram Nagar, the local leadership and the villagers have identified and demanded need for Skill Development for Village educated unemployed youth to enhance their livelihood, a skill development training facility to be set up in the village by the Industries Department, Andaman & Nicobar Administration under Village Development Plan 2015-16.
The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman today on 8th June, 2015 at 02:15 PM inaugurated the Vocational Training Center, at Panchayat Community Hall Ram Nagar-II, set up by Industries Department in association with Gram Panchayat, Ram Nagar for imparting skill development training in the Trade Tailoring & Garment Making to 31 (thirty one) rural educated unemployed Women of Ram Nagar Village.
The Deputy Commissioner, North & Middle Andaman urged the villagers and local HoDs to contribute to the Development of Ram Nagar as Adarsh Gram through implementation of existing Developmental Plan Programme and Schemes of various Departments of Andaman & Nicobar Administration and certain new initiatives to be designed to suit the local conditions. The villagers were also requested to Identify common felt needs of the village for its self sustainability and to ensure more and more participation in the SAGY scheme to make Ram Nagar as ‘Adarsh Gram ‘.
The Assistant Commissioner, Diglipur , Shri Subodh Mondal, Pradhan, Gram Panchayat Ram Nagar and Shri Abdul Haneef , Industries Promotion Officer also present on the occasion.
