Port Blair, May 10: Even as other government accommodations in the region have been renovated in the recent years, the earmarked quarter of the Principal, Govt. Sr. Sec. School, Swadesh Nagar in Middle Andaman has been left in utter neglect by authorities for unknown reasons. In an extremely decrepit state, the abandoned structure has turned into a vehicle shed and happy ground for anti-social elements of late.
As per information, the allocated quarter of the Principal of Swadesh Nagar has turned into a haunted structure for the last two decades. The Administration has taken no step till now to dismantle the deserted structure and reconstruct a new structure.
“It’s surprising that other old quarters in the same region have been dismantled and new quarters have been constructed for the teachers of the school about 4 years ago. But strangely the quarter of the Principal has been left untouched for years. The accommodation has now been converted into a parking place for private vehicles. Even anti-social elements use the structure for activities like gambling, boozing etc. For the apathy of the authorities, the Principal of the School is forced to travel daily from Mayabunder or Rangat to attend his duties,” claim some residents of Swadesh Nagar.
