Port Blair, April 16: An air-conditioned luxury tourist boat, ‘MV Mark Marina’ was inducted into operation at a simple function held at Junglighat Terminal here this morning. The Lt. Governor, Lt. Gen. A K Singh (Retd.) was the chief guest on the occasion. He unveiled a plaque and formally inducted the boat into service. The Lt. Governor and other dignitaries were taken on a short cruise on board the vessel within the vicinity of Junglighat Terminal.
Jointly owned by Rajesh Anand and Mandeep Singh, the tourists’ boat was built at Tuticorin (Tamil Nadu) at the project cost of Rs.1.5 crores with the internal seating fixation done here itself. The 76-seated luxury vessel will cater to the need of tourists visiting Ross Island, North Bay and Viper Island. At present, the boat has a capacity of 55 passengers on board, including 5 crew members.
