Port Blair, Apt 12: The Shipping Services is believe to be the life line of Andaman and Nicobar Islands but due to unknown reasons the Shipping Services have failed to deliver even basic desired service to the Islanders.
While public allege corruption of crores of rupees in Shipping Services behind such mismanagement, the Shipping Service remain quiet in the entire issue.
The latest proof of such glaring example of mismanagement is the horrible condition of passenger vessel MV Chowra, which has returned back from a major repair last month from Sri Lanka. Sadly the condition of the ship remains nightmarish even after the major repair, worth crores.
According to passengers in cabins the wooden/plywood panels of almirahs, roofs and every other places, are falling apart. The beds inside cabins are shaky and neither the ACs nor the Fans work inside most of the cabins. In many Cabins the door locks are not working and hence the ship management has put door-locks from local market.
“We purchased cabin tickets of MV Chowra but we had to spend night in the deck because the cabin was horribly hot as the AC was not working. This ship is in horrible condition. Almost everywhere one can see signs of quick fix repair. Is there anyone who is answerable to the sufferings being caused to the passengers?” question a passenger.
Andaman Sheekha is publishing photographs of the ship for the knowledge of Senior Officer of Administration. Hope they will find some time to see these pictures, which tell about the actual condition of the ships.
very sad. wastage of public money.
