Port Blair, Apr 08: A bush fire was reported from the Garacharma area between the boundary wall of CIARI and the Solar Power Plant this afternoon.
According to reports the fire was reported at around 12.15 pm and it spread very past in a vast area of dry grasses. Soon Fire Tenders from Fire Service Headquarter and Garacharma reached the spot and tackled the fire from two different directions, which resulted in proper control over the fire but the entire operation took about 90 minutes to complete. However, the fire caused damages to the cables of Solar Power Plant and due to this there will be drop of 25000 unit of electricity from the Solar Power Plant.
