Port Blair, Apr 07: Andaman and Nicobar Command (ANC) will be conducting Coastal Security exercise ‘Tat Suraksha – 01/15′ of the year 2015 from 7th to 10th Apr 2015. The bi-annual Coastal Security Exercise ‘Tat Suraksha’ will be the Eleventh in the series, wherein besides validation on SOPs for Coastal Security of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, various drills and contingencies are practiced jointly between various maritime stakeholders in a coordinated manner to safeguard the coasts of the Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
Towards exercise Tat Suraksha, Components of Andaman and Nicobar Command comprising of Army, Navy, Air Force and Coast Guard alongwith the A&N Administration, A&N Police, Police Marine Force (PMF), IRBn, CISF, Customs, Fisheries department, Forest department, Port Management Board (PMB), Directorate of Shipping Services (DSS), Director General Lighthouse and Lightships (DGLL) and all intelligence agencies will be exercised in the Southern and Northern Groups of Islands such that drills and contingencies are validated and rehearsed.
During the exercise, the local populace will be sensitized about the coastal security mechanism of A&N Islands and the usage of Toll free telephone number 1093 dedicated for reporting coastal security issues.
The exercise will be controlled and monitored from Joint Operations Centre (Coastal Security) – JOC (CS) at Headquarters, Andaman & Nicobar Command and coordinated by Indian Coast Guard from Regional Coastal Security Operations Centre (A&N) at CGRHQ (A&N).
