Port Blair, Apr 01: Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, AVSM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard commissioned Coast Guard fuelling facilities at Campbell Bay on 31 Mar 15. Speaking on the occasion, the DGICG stated that the establishment of fuelling facilities was the operational necessity in the far flung islands, and it will enhance maritime surveillance and operational reach capabilities of the ICG.
The Admiral also complemented efforts of the MES authorities and M/s IOC for timely completion of the project, despite logistic challenges and resource constraints in the remote island. Later in the day the DGICG inspected the Coast Guard forward base operational capability and infrastructure development at Campbell Bay. He also paid a visit to the Coast Guard School and interacted with the school children and teacher. The school provides quality education to the children of the Defence personnel posted at Campbell Bay and the local populace. During the visit the DGICG also inaugurated Married Accommodation project in the Coast Guard Residential Area at Campbell Bay, said PRO CG.
