Port Blair, Mar 29: Vice Admiral HCS Bisht, AVSM, the Director General Indian Coast Guard reviewed the progress of Coast Guard in the A&N Islands during the conference held in the Headquarters, Coast Guard Region (A&N) Port Blair on 29 Mar 15.
The Director General appreciated the proactive response of region towards saving precious lives of local fishermen and apprehension of foreign poachers for illegal fishing in A&N Islands. He also emphasized on the need for timely creation of operational infrastructure for sustaining the large growth underway and to enhance the surveillance capability. Earlier in the day the Admiral unveiled the inspiring statue at the Headquarters which epitomizes the Coast Guardians performing the benign role in accordance with the ICG motto, “We protect”.
The Director General will also be visiting all Coast Guard out laying Stations during the tour, said PRO Coast Guard.
