Port Blair, Mar 27: Unnati organised an advance training in tailoring and fashion design to group of selected Silai teachers for their capacity building in tailoring related activities with the support of Usha International Ltd, New Delhi on 27-03-2015 at Hotel Daya Sagar, Prothrapur. The training programme was inaugurated by Shri. Vadivelan Perumal, Co-ordinatior Usha International Ltd who in his inaugural address said Usha International Ltd, New Delhi in partnership with Unnati running 50 Silai School in 3 District of A & N Islands. He expressed his happiness that a large number of women were benefitted under Silai School project as most of the trainees under the project are adopting tailoring as self-employment venture. He said as per feed-back received there is dearth of qualified and competent Silai teachers in A & N Islands therefore they decided on the request of Unnati to develop a team of Silai teachers by enhancing their capacity with the help of expert/resource persons of Usha International Ltd and this enabling Unnati to utilize their services to provide quality training in rural area. He said the training will be conducted by Smti. Chamma, resource person of Usha International Ltd from mainland who is also explained about the training programme and its contents.
Shri. Julious Meshak a senior citizen and renowned social worker was Guest of Honour in the function complemented Unnati for the good work the organisation is doing for the community with commitment and devotion. He further said by undergoing quality training arranged by Unnati and Usha International Ltd the women can enhance their income by adopting tailoring as a self employment activity.
Earlier Smti. Shanta Kumari welcomed the gathering and said such useful training for empowerment of women was possible with the initiative of women and the support Usha International Ltd. Smti Rebaccal Silai teacher of Unnati gave vote of thanks and said to arrange similar programme for upgrading and updating skill in tailoring in which a large number of women are engaged.
