Port Blair, Mar 25: During the auditing of the accounts of Directorate of IP&T by the Indian Audit & Accounts Department, a case of misappropriation and embezzlement of Govt. revenue amounting to Rs. 51.43 Lakhs has come to the notice. The Tourism Department on receipt of information has made further enquiry into the matter and has confirmed that from the period 2007-2013, the then Cashier of the department Mr. Pradeep Chanda, Head Clerk did not deposit the Govt. revenue in the bank. On taking cognizant of the issue, the department immediately referred the matter to the Vigilance Department of the Administration and the matter is currently under investigation by the Anti-corruption wing of the Administration.
