Port Blair, Mar 25: Regional Medical Research Centre, Port Blair has recently established an advanced Bioinformatics laboratory to carry out biomedical research including whole genome analysis, drug designing and detection of vaccine candidate for various pathogenic microbes existing in these Islands. In order to sensitize the local researchers towards application of bioinformatics tools in analysing the gene sequences, a two day seminar cum workshop on “Bioinformatics Tool with reference to Targeted Gene Sequencing and Analysis” under the sponsorship of Bioinformatics division of Indian Council of Medical Research is being conducted at the Centre on 26th and 27th March 2015.
The programme comprises of detailed lectures on different sequencing platforms, genotyping, Single Locus Sequence Typing (SLST) and Multi Locus Sequence Typing (MLST) techniques and Single Nucleotide Polymorphism (SNP) detection. The workshop carries a hands-on training on sequence analysis using different analysis tools.
Researchers and Scholars from various research organisations in these islands will be participating in the workshop.
