Port Blair, Mar 13: The A&N Administration is taking necessary steps for setting up a ‘Kala Kendra’ at Port Blair for promotion of art and culture in these Islands. The proposed Kala Kendra would be a Centre for Performing and Visual Arts, which would provide space for contemporary expression and innovation, initially in the field of dance, drama and visual arts.
As a part of the Kala Kendra, to begin with, an Art Gallery and Studio is being proposed to be set up in the Gandhi Park Complex. In order to provide an opportunity to all visual artists of the islands and to invite suggestions from all stake holders in the concerned field, a meeting is being convened in the chamber of Director (Art & Culture), Cellular Jail Complex on March 16 2015 at 4.30 pm. All interested artists, painters and sculptors are requested to attend the meeting and offer their valuable suggestions to make the upcoming Art Gallery and Studio a successful venture.
