Port Blair, Mar 04: Most of the Petrol Pumps in city today went dry as there was huge delay in delivery of Petrol by IOC. While Jadwet and ANIIDCO Petrol pumps were totally deserted due to lack of Petrol, there was a long queue of vehicles outside Delanipur Petrol Pump, which had some fuel stock left. As the Petrol Pumps went dry public had a horrible time till this afternoon.
When contacted Mr Sudipto Roy, Terminal Manager of Indian Oil Corporation told Andaman Sheekha that the delay was due to late quality check.
“We are supposed to do a quality check as the oil reaches the port but due to the delay in arrival of ship we were unable to do the quality check at night yesterday. That is the reason behind the delay, usually we carry out quality check at night. The petrol pumps were dry only for 1-2 hours, we have supplied oil immediately after the quality check,” Mr. Roy said.
