Port Blair, Mar 03: The Lt. Governor, A&N Islands in a meeting at Raj Niwas reviewed the facilities for tourists at Viper Island and desired that basic minimum facilities like toilets/ urinals, seating facilities etc. should be made available.
Further it was informed that a plan for Viper Island has been drawn by APWD in conformity with the views of Heritage Committee and will be finalized in consultation with the stake holders.
A team of officials from Tourism & APWD will be undertaking a field visit to Viper Island on 04th March 2015, to inspect the present arrangements for tourists and provide the basic minimum requirements.
After the unfortunate boat tragedy on 26.01.2014, the boat services for Viper Island were stopped due to shortage of boats and the services were resumed almost after one year on 26.02.2015.
