Port Blair, Feb 27: The Directorate of Health Services has ordered for more 2500 Oseltamivir (Tamiflu) capsules as a precautionary measure against spread of Swine Flu in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha, the Deputy Director, Health, Dr Abhijit Ray today said that the Health Department was having 500 Oseltamivir capsules but now the department has ordered additional 2500 Oseltamivir capsules.
“Health department is also having almost 550 gaons, which comes very costly as one gaon costs nearly Rs 15000, we have 275 N95 masks, which will be used by the Doctor for treating admitted patients,” Dr Abhijit said.
Further he said that till now health department has treated seven swine flu cases in which three cases were positive and four were contact cases for which the Health Deaprtment have given treatment. He also said that in the four contact cases one was a child of six years age.
“All the patients have been successfully treated and they are healthy now. I will be going to North and Middle Andaman for giving a short orientation in all the PHCs and minimum logistics will be provided to them to sustain for 48 hrs,” Dr Abhijit further added.
