Mayabunder, Feb 12: There were some disputes and complaints against Mr. E Murugan, who was working as contract APP in the Mayabunder Court, as well as circuit bench of Diglipur court. Due to the agitation raised by Mayabunder Bar and the Andaman and Nicobar Bar Association it was decided by the Judicial Section of Secretariat that no work should be given to Mr. E Murugan. According to reports, it was also decided that till the new appointment is made, the Regular APP will look after the charge of JMFC court also.
Earlier, the Lawyers of Mayabunder region, on Thursday, staged a protest and demanded immediate removal of the Assistant Public Prosecutor, Mr. E Murugan, accusing him of power abuse. According to information, the APP allegedly interfered in the functioning of the bar members, while they were dealing with litigants in front of the court room and accused them of misguiding prosecution witnesses. The APP reportedly used filthy language against the lawyers and threatened them of dire consequences if they were found venturing near the APP office, which is adjacent to the Court room.
Agitated lawyers have shot letters to the Law Secretary, District and Sessions Judge and top officials of the legal and civil administration demanding immediate removal of the APP.
