Port Blair, Feb 10: A lot have been written and said about the imaginary Bridge of Hope, connecting Chatham and Bambooflat. But Lt. Governor’s ‘Friendship- Bridge’ idea has brought a new hope among Islanders.
The Convener of Bambooflat Bridge Forum, Mr. Abhay Kumar has congratulated the Lt. Governor for suggesting the visiting ambassador of Japan to India for the construction of bridge connecting Chatham and Bambooflat with India-Japan cooperation.
In a letter addressed to the Lt. Governor, Mr. Abhay Kumar has said that the Bambooflat Bridge Forum had taken up this issue for construction of Bridge connecting Chatham with Bambooflat ever since 2009 at different levels, but it is for the first time that this demand has been seriously dealt with.
“A ray of hope for the construction of this bridge lies with you only sir. We believe that under your dynamic leadership these islands will touch a new height of sustainable development. Hope that the work on this ‘Friendship Bridge’ will coincide along-with the other two major bridges on NH-4,” he added in his letter.
