Port Blair, Feb 05: The Seventh Central Pay Commission which arrived on 04 Feb 15 on a four day visit to the Andaman & Nicobar Islands was briefed at Andaman & Nicobar Command on 05 Feb 15 on the complexities of the operational environment in the Islands, as well as the administrative constraints faced. The Pay Commission was sensitised regarding the problems faced by the Defence Forces personnel posted in the Islands.
Thereafter the Pay Commission interacted with the service personnel and solicited their suggestions. Subsequently the Pay Commission members were taken to Havelock Island under arrangements of the Andaman & Nicobar Command where they witnessed a demonstration on Amphibious Operations off Radhanagar Beach.
The Pay Commission is also scheduled to visit the Defence establishments at Carnic and Campbell Bay wherein they shall get a firsthand experience of the trying conditions in the Islands, before departing for Chennai on 08 Feb 15.
