Port Blair, Feb 05: Headquarters, Coast Guard Region (A&N) conducted an Inter-School Painting Competition for school children as a part of 39th Coast Guard Raising Day Celebration, on 05 Feb 2015 with theme “Save our Environment”. The aim of the event was to promote talent, creativity, spirit of competition and awareness about environment amongst young generation.
Mrs Jayanthi Natarajan, President Tatrakshika (A&N) was the chief guest for the event. A total of 70 children from 22 different schools at Port Blair, enthusiastically participated. To enhance interest of young generation in this creative field, a free hand painting demonstration was also given by eminent artist Shri RK Biswas, Retired Senior Artist, Department of education.
On the spot topics were given to the budding artists under three different categories. G Janisha from Vivekananda Kendriya Vidyalaya, came 1 st among Group ‘A’ (6th to 7thStandard), N Akash from Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School came first in Group ‘B’(8th to 10th Standard) while M Ramesh Rao from Govt. Boys Senior Secondary School came first in Group’C’ (11th to 12th Standard). After culmination of the event, President Tatrakshika(A&N) gave away prizes and certificates to the winners. A communiqué received from PRO, Coast Guard.
