Port Blair, Feb 04: The Valedictory function of Tailoring, Fashion Design and Machine Repairing training organised by Unnati with the support of Usha International Ltd, New Delhi concluded on 03-02-2015 at 04:00 PM at Youth Hostel. Shri Devinder Singh Secretary (Education) was Chief Guest and Shri Rakesh Bhatnagar Secretary (Co-operation and IT) presided over the function.
Dr.Yasmeen Pervaiz, Associate of Unnati welcomed Chief Guest Shri Devinder Singh Secretary (Education) and Shri Rakesh Bhatnagar secretary (Co-operation and IT) for sparing time for participation in the function. She also welcomed known women activist Smti Shanta Laxman Singh, Ex-Chairperson SWAB, officials of Usha International Ltd, New Delhi besides other participants. She said Unnati is working in the field of women and child welfare and organizing various capacity building programme for empowerment of women to improve their socio-economic condition and thus enabling them to invest their earning on their children’s health and education. She further said that 20 trainees who are having knowledge and experience in tailoring selected from Nicobar and North & Middle Andaman District have been imparted training with the resource persons of Usha International Ltd New Delhi to utilize their services as Master Trainer for conducting Silai School in their respective villages.
Shri C.Mohammed, President Unnati said that quality training with the help of competent trainer is essential for quality service/production therefore Unnati arranging resource persons/trainers from reputed institutions in mainland. Because of quality training undergone the trainers trained by Unnati in Tailoring, Fashion Design and Machine Repairing with the support of Usha International Ltd, New Delhi there is good demand for the training being conducted by these trained trainees and they are getting course fee of 250 to 500 monthly from trainees when tailoring facilities being provided by various organisations free of cost.
He further said that these trainees trained by Unnati with the support of Usha International Ltd, New Delhi are capable to stitch quality ready-made dress of a few items which now are being imported from mainland by cloth merchants. To explore possibilities of getting work order for these ready-made dresses an interaction session was arranged with office bearers of Chamber of Commerce after discussing with Shri G.Bhasker, President Chamber of Commerce, A & N Islands in which besides President Chamber of Commerce, S/S Hari Narayan Arora, and Shri Shyamal Choudhury actively interacted with the trainees and the decisions taken on the basis of their valuable suggestions to finalize the deal with trainees and shopkeepers for marketing their products would be followed up.
Shri Devinder Singh Secretary (education), Chief Guest highly pleased with the feed-back report presented by trainees and resource persons of Usha International Ltd. He said from interaction it appears that trainees acquired skill and their capacity also adequately enhanced to set up their own self employment units for which they may also take assistance of industry and IT department with the help of Unnati. He said he is happy that Unnati is doing good service for the community under the guidance of its President such initiative we rarely find. Quality training and capacity building is essential for preparing quality products. He said in this direction the initiative and efforts of Unnati for arranging resource person from Usha International Ltd for capacity building and skill up-gradation is appreciable and praised worthy. He said that trainees are very happy with the training imparted and they learnt many good design and skill for quality production and thus encouraged to set up their own units. Certificates and one sewing machine to each trainee free of cost were also distributed by Shri Devinder Singh, Chief Guest and Shri Rakesh Bhatnagar, Guest of Honor.
