Port Blair, Apr 05: Mr. B.P.Ray, Member of Parliament has taken up the matter to extend facilities to local journalists at Port Blair, with Smti. Ambika Soni, Minister of Information & Broadcasting, GOI.
In reply to the above letter, Smti.Ambika Soni vide her D.O.No. 26/22/2011- Press dated 23.03.2012 intimated to Mr.Ray that – “It is stated that the matter relating to facilities to local journalists at Port Blair (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) comes under the purview of Andaman & Nicobar Administration, media persons have been provided facility of a Media Room in the Directorate of Information, Publicity & Tourism as a stop gap arrangement till alternative accommodation becomes available for use as Media Room.
As regards concessional tariff in A&N Guest Houses, the Andaman & Nicobar Administration has informed that there is no facility to provide accommodation to media persons on concessional rate in the Government guest houses in Andaman & Nicobar Islands.”
