Port Blair, Jan 14: The First Lady of the Islands, Smt Suneeti Singh, today interacted with the students and teachers, who participated in the cultural programme presented during the ‘Civic-Reception’ held in honour of the Vice President of India, Shri M Hamid Ansari at DBRAIT on January 11, 2015. About 90 students and six teachers from Govt. SSS Bathubasti, Govt. SSS Model, Port Blair, Govt. SSS Garacharma, SSS Nirmala, KV No. II and Govt. SSS Girls, Port Blair, visited Raj Niwas to interact with the First Lady.
Interacting with them, Smt Suneeti Singh inquired from them about their favourate subjects, their academic plans and the careers they would like to opt. She wanted that, besides learning other languages, students from these Islands should also learn and speak English language and develop IT skills as it will develop their self-confidence and enhance their communication skills which in turn will help in the overall personality development of the students. She lauded them for presenting an impressive cultural programme which not only drew applause from Hon’ble Vice President and Smt Salma Ansari but from the packed auditorium. She noted with appreciation that the cultural programmes presented by the students of the Islands were not only exciting but were presented in a professional manner with perfect coordination and synchronization. Blessing the students for a bright future, she observed that besides academics, students should also carry forward their hobbies like dancing, singing etc., but the aim and focus should be studies and selecting correct profession, observed the First Lady. Her message to students was to adopt honesty, sincerity and respect for elders, which she said is the key to success in life. As all the students were girls, she suggested them to become strong and acquire marshal art training for their own-safety.
Turning to the teachers, she said that a teacher is like a second mother to a student. They should treat their students with a soft heart and guide them on the right path.
On the occasion, the students expressed their gratitude to the Hon’ble Lt Governor and the First Lady for providing them the opportunity to visit Raj Niwas.
