Port Blair, Jan 12: A classical dance workshop was organized by South Zone Cultural Centre, Thanjavur in association with Department of Art & Culture,
Andaman & Nicobar Islands at Kailashpathi Classical Dance Academy, Kerala Samajam from 8-10 Jan 2015. The participants were given nuance on Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam performance. During the workshop Renowned Kuchipudi exponent and Movie Dance Director, Guru KV Sathyanarayana from Andhra Pradesh demonstrated and imparted the basic concepts of Kuchipudi dance. The participants were taught few Kuchipudi items. Noted dancer and prominent artist Guru PR Manikuttan and Kalakshetra Nithya Manikuttan conducted Bharatanatyam session. The participants were also taught few Bharatanatyam items. The workshop was culminated with an Augustus function at the Kerala Samajam Auditorium. Islands novelist and President Kerala Samajam Shri.KP Jayrajan, Retd. Executive Engineer, APWD gave away certificates to the participants. The prime attraction event was the Kuchipudi and Bharatanatyam performance by the participants.
