Port Blair, Jan 09: The 26th Road Safety Week-2015 has been concluded with a Motorcycle/ladies scooter rally, started from Cellular Jail to Bhatu Basti via Y.Narayan Jn., Clock Tower, Bengali Club, Goalghar, Junglighat, Dairy Farm and School Line by wearing helmet to spread Road Safety awareness and to inculcate the habit of wearing helmet among the general public. The rally was flagged off by Shri Shibesh Singh, District Superintendent of Police, South Andaman District today at 0800 hrs. Around 30 Motorcycle riders including ladies participated in the rally.
Lecture were also conducted at Govt. Sr. Sec. School Bhatu Basti by Inspr. Abita Bachan, SHO PS Pahargaon on the topic “How to be a safe pedestrian”. SI Raja Rao delivered lecture at Ummat Public School, Austinabad on the topic “How Drunken Driving Kills” and HC/261 P.K.Das delivered lecture on “Safe School Transport” at Govt. Sec. School, Dairy Farm. A good response was received from all the above schools.
In the evening from 1600 hrs onwards a Workshop was conducted for Pvt. vehicle drivers and Auto rickshaw drivers by SI G.Suresh Kumar on the topic “How to maintain good behaviour with passengers”. Auto rickshaw drivers have been briefed to maintain cordial relation with passengers and to charge the fare according to the fare meter. Around 50 drivers participated in the workshop.
