Port Blair, January 09: The Vice President of India, Mr Mohd Hamid Ansari will be arriving Port Blair in the afternoon on January 10th on a four day visit to Andaman and Nicobar Islands.
He will be accompanied by his spouse, Mrs Salma Ansari.
Vice President will leave Delhi by the Indian Air Force Special Aircraft for the Islands on 10th January at 11.20 hrs and arrive at the INS Utkrosh base, Port Blair at 14.30 hrs, where he will be received by the higher dignitaries.
He will be given a guard of honour as well at the naval air base.
He will then proceed to Raj Niwas. In the evening, at 16.35 hrs, he will visit the Cellular Jail and lay wreath at the Martyr’s Column. In the evening he will visit the national memorial again to watch the light and sound show.
On Sunday, January 11th, Vice President Mr Mohd Hamid Ansari will be briefed by the Lieutenant Governor of the Union Territory, Lt Gen. (Retd) AK Singh in the morning at 10.00 hrs.
In the noon, he will visit the Andaman & Nicobar Tribal Research Institute (ANTRI) at Port Blair, where the Andamanese, Onges and Nicobarese tribal representatives would welcome the constitutional authority by presenting him with traditional gifts.
He would then go around the galleries and would be briefed about the tribal issues. Vice President Mr Hamid Ansari in the evening would deliver an address at the Dr BR Ambedkar Institute of Technology, Port Blair from 16.15 hrs to 17.15 hrs. He would then visit Marina Park, and return to Raj Niwas where the Lieutenant Governor Lt Gen. (Retd) AK Singh would host dinner for him and Mrs Ansari.
On Monday, January 12th, Vice President Mr Mohd Hamid Ansari would be proceeding to Ross Island by a special boat at 9.40 hrs and spend two hours there.
Later, he will go to the Andaman and Nicobar Command and at 12.20 hrs, the Commander-in-Chief, Vice Adml Pradeep Kr Chatterjee would brief him, followed by lunch in the ANC Officers Mess.
At 1445 hrs, Vice President Mr Hamid Ansari would leave for Havelock Island from INS Utkrosh base by an IAF Special Helicopter. At 15.15 hrs, he would be received at Havelock Islands and he would visit the Radha Nagar Beach. He would stay in the Dolphin Resort for the day.
On Tuesday, 13th January, Vice President Mr Mohd Hamid Ansari will leave Havelock Island by the special helicopter at 9.45 am and reach the INS Utkrosh base, Port Blair at 10.15 hrs, from where he would travel by the IAF Special Aircraft to Car Nicobar IAF Base.
After the reception there, he will go to the Tsunami Memorial and lay a wreath in honour of those who lost their lives due to the fury of nature and lights candle near the memorial stone.
After inspecting the photo gallery there and signing the visitors’ book, he proceeds to the Passa Beach, where he will watch cultural programme and interact with the tribal council members. He will then return to the IAF Base at Car Nicobar and after the farewell, he will leave by the IAF Special Aircraft at 13.40 hrs and reach Delhi Airport at 17.50 hrs.
