Port Blair, Jan 04: The 43rd Foundation Day of Seva Niketan was celebrated yesterday. ‘Chetna’ the Socio-Cultural Organisation presented cultural programs in the evening in the premises of Seva Niketan at Dairy Farm. The small children of the Niketan presented beautiful programs, which were appreciated by the audience. The Chief Guest the Assistant Director(Program) of All India Radio Dr. Uma Shankar Jha in his address said that, the children of the Islands are immensely talented and one could justify this, seeing their programs. He called upon the other NGO’s to come forward to provide platforms to the young artists.
Presiding over the function, the President of the State Cooperative Union Mr. Kuldeep Rai Sharma said that, ‘Chetna’ has been working hard, taking up the social issues to make the people aware through their cultural programs. Appreciating the efforts of ‘Seva Niketan’ he said that, the organisation should publish a souvenir, covering the success stories of the ex students of the ‘Niketan’ who are now contributing for the development of the Islands in various capacities. This would inspire the young students, he said.
In the function ‘Seva Niketan’ honoured many people for their outstanding contribution to Niketan for the welfare of the needy children.
The President of ‘Seva Niketan’ Mr. Beant Singh and the Secretary Mr. Mangat Ram also spoke on this occasion. A large number of people turned up for the function.
