Port Blair, Dec 26: The members of Chatham Saw Mill work committee today went for a four hour strike.
According to sources, in every two year the work committee conducts an election for which they have put banners inside the saw mill after taking permission from the election committee. But yesterday few top level officers came inside the saw mill for cleaning the saw mill as part of “Swach Bharat Abhiyan” and while cleaning drive they removed all the banners without even asking the workers, which left workers upset.
According to sources in the afternoon the Deputy Conservator of Forest apologized for the mistake of the top level officers, after which the workers resumed their job.
