Port Blair, Dec 03: Several hours delay in sailing of vessel MF Samsun, which was scheduled to sail Campbell Bay yesterday in between 6-8 PM, triggered unrest among 300 odd passengers, who started agitation at the Haddo Jetty and shouted slogan against DSS on Tuesday night.
According to reports, few passengers had already entered the ship but they were told that the ship cannot sail due to some engine starting problem and were later asked to get down from MF Samsun. Soon rumour spread among the passengers that the ship won’t sail, which left many passengers fuming.
The Director of Shipping Services, Capt. Rajinder Kumar, was not available over phone for a comment but he replied in a SMS at 10.00 PM that MF Samsun did have some engine starting problem and therefore the sailing was delayed for about 2 hours. “However that has been now taken care of and the ship will soon sail out, embarkation has commenced,” he added in his SMS.
