Port Blair, Dec 02: U.S. Consul General in Chennai, Mr. Phillip A. Min is presently visiting Andaman and Nicobar Islands to connect with people of these Islands and to understand these beautiful islands, coming under jurisdiction of U.S. Consul General in Chennai, in a better way.
Mr. Phillip A. Min, who has deep interest in Education and related issues, feels that Community College could be a big idea for Andaman and Nicobar Islands. He said Community College gives flexibility to students in various ways.
If readers can recall that recently in more than one occasions the present Lt. Governor of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Lt. Gen (Retd.) A K Singh has said that plans are on the card to introduce a Community College scheme for rural areas.
If Consulate General of the United States Chennai and Andaman and Nicobar Administration can have some kind of tie up in setting up a Community College or an understanding in getting resource persons in various subjects in Andaman then certainly the idea of Community college will deeply connect US Consul General Phillip Min with Andaman.
Talking to Andaman Sheekha this morning US Consul General Phillip Min today said that Consulate General of the United States, Chennai can certainly help in getting resource persons for Andaman in Education Sector. He said Education is always been a focus area.
US Consul General Phillip Min interacted with the students of DBRAIT this afternoon and looked very excited in the morning to share ideas with students.
Mr. Phillip Min told Andaman Sheekha that he wishes to visit Andaman again in coming years to have more such interactions with students, if his schedule permits.
Islands certainly look forward to have some kind of understanding with Consulate General of the United States Chennai in Education field so improve the Standard of Education further, in these Islands.
As long as Mr. Phillip A. Min, who has deep knowledge about Education, remains as U.S. Consul General there is certainly a hope.
