Port Blair, Nov 25: The Gyan Kendra, Goalghar a pioneer coaching centre, with the aim to prepare ambitious students of Higher Secondary and Senior Secondary School, celebrated its grand SILVER JUBILEE function after completion of 25 years of service on 23rd Nov 2014 in the Auditorium of Dr. B R Institute of Technology (DBRAIT), Dollygunj, Port Blair. The Chief Guest on this occasion was Shri Sudhir Yadav (IPS ), Director General of Police, A & N Islands. The function was attended by distinguish guests, parents, students, Alumni of the Institution and various other members of the society.
Shri R. S. Sharma Ex-Headmaster and awarded with the much coveted medal from the Hon’ble President of India in the year 1994 and recipient of Hon’ble Lt. Governor’s commendation certificate for his exceptional endowments in the field of education established the coaching centre way back in 1989 in the heart of Port Blair city at Goalghar. As the need arose, Gyan Kendra developed its activities and consequent upon the joining of Shri Gyan Sharma as Director of Institution initially concentrated in imparting coaching in Physics, a so called hard subject for the student. As the need arose adding other faculties, the Gyan Kendra provided coaching in all subjects resulted in producing Island Toppers in CBSE, IIT, JEE, AIPMT etc. and also helped in bringing toppers in many Educational Institution.
The Director General of Police Shri Sudhir Yadav appreciated the sincere efforts of Gyan Kendra in imparting knowledge for 25 long years, and was also happy to see the presence of large number of Parents, Alumni, Students. The Director General of Police was of the opinion; the Gyan Kendra is providing its best service to the needy students of the Islands which is no way less than any coaching centre in the Metropolitan cities in mainland. It has resulted in providing a good number of students with top marks which ultimately helped as a turning point in their lives to choose professional courses like- all fields of Engineering and Medical Sciences .
On the occasion Director General of Police Shri Sudhir Yadav released a Souvenir of Gyan Kendra. The Special Guest Dr. Dev Das, Principal, Andaman College, Dr. Iqbal Ahmed, Principal JNRM, Shri Bhagat Singh also spoke on the occasion and appreciated the sincere efforts of Gyan Kendra for providing QUALITY EDUCATION for society.
