Port Blair, Nov 24: Mrs Ratna Kanna, Chairperson, Andaman & Nicobar Social Welfare Board and Ms Rita Devi, Welfare Officer was invited on an international conference on “women & girl child” for social and economic quality which was held in Bengaluru from 17th to 19th of November, 2014 under the chairmanship of Dr Padmini Prasad, MD.
The main focus of the conference was to bring together health care professionals, medical practitioners, researchers and educators from around the world who were engaged in issues pertaining to women, child and social welfare. The main agenda of the conference was to discuss issues like breast cancer, sexual and reproductive health, public policies and economic status of women in developing countries, child labour, right to education and malnutrition. The programme was done together by the Indian Council of Medical Research and Clinton Foundation, U.S.A.
Various symposiums on topics like globilisation and women empowerment, violence against women and children, advance skills in breast cancer and related topics were discussed in the conference were Neonatology, law violence and girl child challenges, women & education, violence against women, the laws and rights for children, obstetrics and Gynecology.
