Port Blair, Nov 18: Renowned Ghazal exponent Sudeep Banerjee from Mumbai would be presenting an evening of Ghazals and Sufi songs on 23rd November at ITF Ground at 6 p.m during the ensuing “Virasat”-a Cultural festival.
Shri. Sudeep Banerjee, a “Shagird” of the late Shri. Jagjit Singh has travelled the world over for his concerts with artists like Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Munni Begum, Hariharan, and Pankaj Udhas. Sudeep took to music at an early age, but it was his training in Dadra-Thumri Gayaki and the finer shades of the ghazal under Shanti Hiranand – the foremost disciple of the legendary Begum Akhtar – that cemented his passionate relationship with the Ghazal. Sudeep has also undergone specialised training in classical music from one of India’s leading classical gurus, Pt. Ajoy Chakravarty.
This programme, being organized by the Department of Art & Culture in association with INTACH and Department of Tourism is supported by Indian Oil.
