Port Blair, Nov 14: The Department of Arts & Culture shall be organizing a two- day cultural festival ‘Virasat’ at Port Blair on 22nd and 23rd November 2014 at ITF Ground in association with INTACH, Cultural organizations, Eastern Zonal Cultural Centre and Department of Tourism.
During the two-day festival, a choreographic themed program by artists of these islands and Qawali by renowned group to be deputed by EZCC will be presented on 22nd November 2014. On the second day, renowned Ghazal exponent Sudeep Banerjee from Mumbai would be presenting an evening of Ghazals and Sufi songs. Shri Sudeep Banerjee has been a “Shagird” of the late Shri. Jagjit Singh. He has travelled the world over for his concerts with artists like Mehdi Hassan, Ghulam Ali, Munni Begum, Hariharan, and Pankaj Udhas for their famous ghazal series RASBARSE. During the festival, flea market would also be organized by the Department of Tourism to add an air of celebration.
