Port Blair, Oct 31: ANDAMAN COLLEGE, Haddo, Port Blair observed “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas’ (National Unity Day) 2014” on 31st September 2014. Various programmes were conducted to observe the day in a meaningful manner and to spread the message of unity, safety and security.
In the inaugural function, Principal of the college Dr R Dev Das administered “Rashtriya Ekta Diwas pledge” to the students, faculty members and staffs of the college . He appealed to the students to introspect and reaffirm their inherent strength to withstand with the actual and potential threats to the unity, integrity and security of our country. He further stressed that Youths being the future of this country, should strive hard to maintain the unity and integrity of the country. Students of the music department presented patriotic and National integration based songs during the function.
Earlier in the morning the students and faculties of ANCOL participated in the RUN FOR UNITY at Netaji Stadium Later an Inter department quiz competition on the topic “National Unity: Need of the hour” was conducted in which Pronay Halder & team of BCom (CS) department and Navin & Team of Sociology department were declared as the winners and runners respectively. A debate on the topic “National Unity: Road towards success” was also conducted. In slogan writing competition the slogan written by R Arthi of BCom department was selected as the best slogan.
Various sport competitions were also organized during the day. The programme ended with vote of thanks by Dr Pusphavalli, HOD, English department followed by National Anthem.
